Awesome video Hugh! Very detailed overview. We do this on every Mac we get. It's insane how dirty Macs get. We have had some come in that look like a cat lived on the machine! Using a high powered air blower (electric not compressed air) can help if you don't want to completely take a Mac apart (though not nearly as thorough). Thermal paste definitely helps keep the Mac running optimally. Tip to any viewers: Any static can blow a component. Make sure you are using anti-static methods. It's very easy to blow a chip when touching the board! We have lost computers due to a very small static shock! Let us know if you have any questions we process 1000s of Macs a year. Peace and love Hugh love the content keep up the great work!
Very good film. 👍
90c or 90f???
The most used phrase in his whole channel is " Caked in dust"
rather pay someone to do it.
that looks the exact same as the 2015 macbook pro, no change in design
2/10 No eucalyptus oil used
I fixed my overheating intel MacBook Pro by buying a M1 MacBook Air. Problem solved.
Thermals before and after?
You won’t damage the laptop with it running too hot. It’ll simply thermal throttle. Thereby reducing performance. Yes, clean it as it’s performance that’s left on the table and easy to solve, but don’t worry about it damaging the cpu etc as they are designed to run at 100 Celsius before throttling.
Watching someone make clumps of dust wet instead of just dusting beforehand is disturbing. 🤢
Quick tip how to check the temperature in Terminal without any third party apps: sudo powermetrics -s thermal
Can this dirty macbook/fried thermal paste be the reason why my macbook pro will just revv the fan when rendering imovie then just shuts down?
*MacBook Hair
Me searches how to fix heating This came BUT I DONT HAVE AN MAC TFF
What year/ version of MacBook Pro is this?
He said it was a 2013 i7 with 16 gb ram
Thanks
Where do all of your repaired computers go. I would definitely get one if the modern laptops you have repaired. It’s great that your kinda saving the environment as well.
My MacBook Pro 2013 model needs this!
So satisfying
Wait are you saying that 90 degrees isn’t normal? I get like 115 average just when it’s on. Let alone using apps and other stuff.
You should use software to decrease the temprature at which th fans run at. AAAAAND you got it covered :)
Aaaaah!! You are not suppose to have liquid coming out of your compressed air can. You were holding it wrong! Lucky you didn't destroy everything that way.
Dustier than my air vents :D
Followed along. The screws are too tight, and a shredded the first screw in the first fan. FFS
Put some color in the frame.
Put some color in the frame.
You failed on this one ! .. what was the temp after the fact ? And You fail again by not answering others..
Ariana Grande
Well done Hugh. The ChrisFix of laptops!
I just got a MacBook for the very first time and I am still kinda nervous to clean it out when the day comes...
It's so dusty, it's like digging out a fossil from the ground.
can u tell me why is ssd more advanced then the hdd
Keep posting interesting contents like this!
Use thermal paste like you please cause i don't think this guy is smarter than the people who built the computer.
My laptop used to overheat so i cleaned it, never overheated again...
Do you only work on mac's/apple products??
You idiot. You're shaking the compressed air, NEVER do that. It's not supposed to squirt out liquid when you spray it. Never work on another computer again.
you can use sulphuric acid solution and dip all the parts in it after 10min, they will be crystal clear
Actually you should have done that cleaning already when you bought it. And btw, those fan control apps are useless unless something is wrong with your machine and those apps also can cause an overheating or damaging as well if wrong adjusted.
I don’t understand, it’s like vacuum never exist in the US...
I had a MacBook Pro 2018 which I got brand new and it used to overheat since the time I got it. It overheated whenever I was doing work on safari or anything online work movies and all ...
I got a MacBook Pro brand new and it was a 2018 one and it always overheated when I was using the internet
my laptop gets to 168 degrees, anything ii can do with it?
@Hugh Jeffreys like it won't shut off it will just keep going but the temp would go down after a couple mins. so is that right? thanks for replying btw.
It would shut off before it ever got to that temperature so that can't be right
Encouraging.mac user to open up Mac and screw it
I love seeing things get repaired and cleaned up. Great job. Thank you. 👍🏻. P.S. The technical term for those wads of dust is “dust bunnies”.
"Fixing My Filthy Overheating MacBook Pro" video is you buying a dell XPS or something, right?
he understands star pattern but does not understand compressed air ... it was so cringe to watch and listen.
this really makes me want to clean out my pc. i should probably do that soon
My mind When I see how hot the MacBook is: c o o k e g g s
Don't force the dirt going inside the heatsink, do it the other way around. saves you time. That was a lot of thermal paste used. A pea size is enough.
Yeah, I think that's the same issue I have with my 2015 MacBook pro rn. It only gets hot above the first row of the keypad. When I bought it from my sister I took it to get it dusted, and sure enough, the fans were very clogged. I knew they would be because she always used her MacBook on the bedsheets. I also need to check in with apple because my mac is from the era where there was a recall on the battery, I hope I could get a new battery done on mine since it does die pretty fast.
I would be a little nervous for removing some of the other components beside air compression but from what you cleaned I can tell it was needed. Thank you for this video.🙏
1:06 so In order to open the laptop, you need to do a blood sacrifice?
wait so when my computer is reaching temperatures of 191 Fahrenheit It's bad
That’s so dusty!
I have an i mac and its soo slow. I need to clean it but of course its an imac
Just did this and it worked. My MacBook is about 15-20 degrees lower than the previous temperatures. Plus it doesnt feel that hot on touch, previously I couldn't even place my finger on the metal area above the keyboard. Thanks for this tutorial!
I have the same pc and yesterday I thought that I need to open it, clean it and change thermopaste. I did not searched or said anything about it. Today the first video I see appearing on my SEworld is this one. That is pretty absurd 0.o how did it happened 😱😅😅
What thermal paste do you use?
It would be interesting if you also posted some details about the temps you were getting before and after the cleanup!
Should've swapped the entire logicboard assembly. Or bought a new macbook
Hello Hugh, I have a MacBook Pro mid 2012, and the SD reader/writer Card is no longer working, how can I review it? Thanks
Can you also do a video on how to make/re--purpose mac pro to a desktop. Many thanks
am washing this vid on the same laptop
I would clean the inside of mine but I don't have the proper tools to take everything apart and I fear I would mess something up since I don't have much knowledge of the interior pieces and compartments. Should probably just take it to get cleaned by someone more knowledgable.
RAM soldered onto the MB. That disgusting move sadly got copied by a lot of Notebook manufacturers.
Thanks, is this the same Architecture with 2020 Pro 13" model ? Im planning to do the same like you
When my MacBook Pro is broken: Me: I watch huge Jeffries!
Heyo mate! Not sure i can get a reply here, but I did the same to my 13" Macbook Pro 2013 by changing the thermal paste and cleaning the fans. However after I put everything back, I noticed that there are actually additional sounds coming out from the Macbook! It goes a bit like of a 'rattling' sound and I have re-opened the macbook to redo everything again but the sounds still persist. I even put in wd40 onto the fans as I thought it was the fan causing the issue, but it seems like it is not? And I am clueless to what is causing the sounds?
hey dude on ebay i found a perfect deal for you for a bunch of apple macbooks 2010-2009 that are missing the bottom and one a few keys but the screens look perfect heres the link: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-MacBook-Pro-joblot-2011-17-2010-2009-15-damaged-3x-17inch-1x-15inch/333759524982?hash=item4db59e3076:g:b-oAAOSw8aFfjatq
Well yeah, that's what we expected
Please
Better yet throw that carp in the garbage
lol so mine is also fried? I have so much disturbance with my sound! Same like in your video, now I know the problem.
If you want to lower temps even more I reccomend getting Volta (lets you undervolt the cpu, disable turbo if you want and you can even lower wattage).
Can I get a little help here? I wan't to get my Macbook checked and cleaned- in the past I've spilled water on it more than once(big or small amounts) aswell as coco puff dust. I want to check for water damage(sometimes my screen glitches and so does the battery as the battery) aswell as get a new keyboard because three of my keys are really loose, easily fall out, and some feel "sticky". When I go to get it checked, are there any specific things I should ask for? ty
l am one of the Victims. At first, the software seemed to be really professional and authentic I found many favorable reviews about its performance and delivered results. So, I decided to invest in it and try to achieve success in the online trading sphere. Soon, I realized that the software was swallowing all my investments. Brokers are nothing more than a dangerous and fraudulent platform. I invested over $ 140,000 and couldn't withdraw my money, months passed and still nothing So, I reached out to Logan mia to help me recover my funds, I have been able to recover $ 100,000 and the remaining $ 40,000 is in progress. I really can't tell how happy I am. Contact her via mail: loganmia453@gmail.com
if u care about how "loud" fans are just wear headphones like any other sane person

1:31 that’s a lot of dust bunnies
then what is the process for MacBook Pro 13 inch model
Why you didn't apply a lubricant to the fans?
I have an 11 year old computer that works
Wich pentalobe is used on bottom cover? There are 3 sizes of pentalobe.
That happened to my MacBook Pro to
Hi Hugh. I love your name. Hugh Jeffreys. I'm going to write a song about it.
this laptop is very good for work
5:06 dude no
DO NOT SHAKE YOUR COMPRESSED AIR! This guy is all wrong here!
@Hugh Jeffreys - This thing is full like a vacuum cleaner´s dust bag at its end of life ... even Hardware with a good cooling solution would be toasty hot.
ITS OVER 9000!!!!!!
90 degrees? this is my mba 2019 normal temperature
Thanks for the run through. My fans have been coming on for doing simple tasks lately. Now it’s working like new again.
